Parsons reported that dozens of Israelis, who are keen to get into Gaza and claim the land as their own, attended the conference as a show of strength and determination. There were also children during the said gathering. While the interview is ongoing, a shell is fired into Gaza from a nearby gun emplacement. Nearby is a tent where the youngsters are being entertained, a stall handing out drinks and a stage with speeches and music, Parsons further reported, adding "There are lots of guns here and the atmosphere is rich with a sense of frustration, entitlement and even excitement." Israel's Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, who came to the conference, echoed the sentiments of his people that Palestinians should be removed from Gaza. So did Ariel Kallner, an MP for Likud Party, who told Parsons that he was at the event to show his support for the settlers' plans. He said that "total victory" in the war can only be achieved when settlers have set up a town in northern Gaza. As this happens, Parsons reported that booms from shells being fired at Gaza can be heard again. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his aides rejected a request from Secretary of State Antony Blinken to publicly announce that his nation would not implement an ethnic cleansing plan in northern Gaza, known as the "General's Plan." A Washington Post report said that the Israeli leader and his top aide Ron Dermer told Blinken that the general's plan was "absolutely not their policy" and that the perception has been "deeply damaging to them." But reports said that Netanyahu rejected the request to publicly denounce the ethnic cleansing plan. The general's plan calls for the forced evacuation of all Palestinians from northern Gaza. Under the plan, after a certain amount of time, the entire north will be declared a closed military zone, and anyone who stays behind will be killed by military action or through a starvation blockade.
